With this contribution, we want to increase awareness of NASA World Wind as a unique opportunity to foster collaboration between scientists, developers and other stakeholders, enriching knowledge of our Earth’s complexity. Web WorldWind provides a geographic context, complete with terrain, and a collection for shapes for displaying and interacting with geographic or geo-located information in 3D and 2D in. The European Space Agency has provided valuable contributions to this platform since 2015. WorldWind allows developers to quickly and easily create interactive visualizations of 3D globe, map. 3D virtual globe API in JavaScript for the web, developed by NASA. The European Space Agency is now partnering with NASA on development of the "ESA-NASA Web World Wind" this high degree of interest from other agencies will boost future project productivity. WorldWind is an open source virtual globe API. We give here an overview of the project, reporting details regarding current development direction, with state of the art examples. NASA World Wind provides the ideal environment for scientific data, their analysis, visual representation and interaction with users, in a single platform, which can be deployed both as a Java desktop application (NASA World Wind) or a JavaScript web application (ESA-NASA Web World Wind). The paper provides information about the database structure and the map registration stages, with particular reference to the first historical period considered in the project, based on the Sardi Atlas (drawn in 1767), which can be considered as the first parcelgeometric cadastre of Parma.NASA World Wind is an open source application-programming interface for developing geographic information systems based on a virtual globe rendering engine representing a planet. Written in JavaScript, Web WorldWind enables web page and application builders to quickly. In the hope of making the HGIS as flexible and scalable as possible, and to make the system usable to the widest spectrum of users, an open-source database architecture based on Postgresql/Postgis has been developed. Web WorldWind is a free, open-source virtual globe for web pages. Other social statistics, conserved in the local communal and state archives, such as census reports, building permits, deeds, transfer of property, wills, etc., were considered in the project, leading to a quite complex database structure. It displays the sunrise and sunset times and solar angles for any point on the earth. It uses the Emxsys WorldWindJS library to display a 3D globe with terrain and imagery as well as 2D maps. These data are gathered from the main cadastres of the city: the Sardi Atlas of 1767, the Bourbon Cadastre of 1853, the Post- Unitarian Cadastre of 1901 and the Cadastre of 1940. The WorldWind Explorer is a geospatial web app for visualizing the earth. The paper describes the early stages of the development of a HGIS that considers different historical periods of Parma (Italy), with particular attention to cadastral documents and associated census data. Historical GIS in the last decade proved to be one of the most promising frameworks, that can provide innovative tools and methodological approaches in this field, allowing new research perspective and concept in many fields. We focus on the four most popular virtual globes (Google Earth NASA World Wind. The observation of the structure of the city and its inhabitants, and how such system evolves in time, is essential in almost all land planning and urban development activities, as well as in any historical study. globes and review the existing teaching applications related to them.
